As I said on the forums, I got MGS2 and MGS3 last week, and last night I finished MGS2. I loved it, and it's certainly one of the best games I've played for years.
But today I moved onto MGS3, and it seems so... dull. I'm only an hour in, but it seems like the story has gone from cool sci-fi to grimdark "it's da cold war, heres people talking bout rockets", the gameplay has changed from "sneak about, avoid guards, shoot them if you feel like it, hide in boxes, do whatever you want!" to "pause the game and switch your camouflage every ten seconds", and there just seems to be so much different... but I've heard this is unanimously considered the best game in the series. Does it get better, or is my preference for unusual stories, cartoonish characters, and smooth open-ended gameplay not welcome?

maths: A, 88%
Physics: B, 79.5%
Computing: B, 78.5%

The boundary between B and A is 80% and the boundary between A and A* is 90%. Crap.

I still get into uni, but... you know... three marks? :|

I've got a whole load of good, EV-trained, well-bred, Pokémon, but I've only really got five good ones that I know are good enough to deserve a place in my team:

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Taunt, Earthquake, Stealth Rock, Stone Edge

Abomasnow @ Leftovers
Substitute, Grass Knot, Leech Seed, Blizzard

Dragonite @ Life Orb
Outrage, Fire Punch, Earthquake, Dragon Dance

Slaking @ Choice Band
Hammer Arm, Night Slash, Aerial Ace, Giga Impact

Togekiss
Roost, Thunder Wave, Air Slash, Aura Sphere

Can't remember EVs but they're pretty much what you'd expect
Now, I don't know what else to have. I've tried a Choice Scarf blaziken, a toxicing Shuckle, and a baton passing Ninjask, but all of them seemed to let my team down (Surprisingly Slaking sticks in pretty well despite being NU)

Now, I've got a Shiny Sharpedo and a shiny Eevee which I'd really like to use, but I also wonder if I should just go for a Rapid Spinner, since four of my five are weak to Stealth Rock.
I'm obviously not extremely competitive but I'd like to have something cool to fill the last spot. So, what do you think? Should I go for a Rapid Spinner next or can I do without? Also, what item would Togekiss do best with? All suggested movesets give every single Pokémon Leftovers which is obviously a pain when planning a team. Not that my team is very well planned, it's just a bunch of Pokémon I like stuck together.

I'm ranting now. tl;dr: Give me suggestions for what to do with my team.

So
A+A
is the same as
2xA
Right?

And
AxA
is the same as
A^2
?

So why don't we have a symbol which allows us to express
A^A
as an A and a 2?
And then you could have A^A^A as F(A, 3) and stuff like that.

When I was
A Bagon
My father
Took me into the mountains
To bash my head on rock

He said son when
You grow up
Would you be
An overpowered dragon
That's four times weak to ice?

And will you
Defeat them
Team Rocket
And all the evil teams
The plans that they have made

Because one day
I'll pass you
A baton
That increases your speed
To join the master's team...

Because the Battle Tower wasn't really doing it for me, and I wanted more challenges, and trading everything over to HG to use their battle frontier is impractical, especially as I'm still doing the Nuzlocke run.

It's kind of... not bad, but there isn't really all that much very impressive about it. The biggest criticism I have is that, even more than the portable games, it doesn't feel for one moment as though your Pokémon are actually battling each other. They just wait until it's their turn, run forward, make special effects, then go back to their position. Surely they can make some sort of AI which gives even the vague impression that they're actually fighting? I dunno, have them walk around, eyeing each other up, or at least make it look as though, between turns, time is frozen so in actuality they're continually attacking, and it's only turn based from our point of view.

I am very surprised how good the AI can be. Battling my two teams against each other, both times I came down to my last two Pokémon, but then, playing through the main game it seems simply ridiculous. Using Attract on a same-gender Pokémon? Using Dream Eater on a non-sleeping Pokémon? Using tackle on a Ghost Pokémon after you've got it down to red using Night Slash? Add to this the fact that, like the battle tower, enemies seem able to be difficult only by using very underhanded methods (Double Team, Wobbuffets etc), and it gets very frustrating.

Actually, that's a lie. Another thing that's been difficult is this Neon Coliseum. In this mode, you and your opponent are given a random selection of yours and your opponent's Pokémon. Unfortunately, mine are a hundred times better than theirs, so it ends up just being about who gets lucky and gets the most of my Pokémon. And of course it's usually them. Maybe I should enter this one with a rental team...

Another big problem is... autosaving. There is none. And with a game with this many menus and things, you'd expect not to have to go back to the main menu and choose the save option every time. It isn't even as though there's anything you wouldn't want to save; you win battles and get credits. Losing battles doesn't make any difference at all.

Oh well... this is such a weird game. It persuaded me to finish training my Shuckle anyway, and by the looks of the trade-in prices it's one of those games which ends up selling for more than you paid after a few years.

EDIT: More thoughts
About half of the trainer classes are something like "Mature Couple" or "brother and sister"... but you only fight one of them. Then there are the creepy ones like a black guy who was called "Muddy child". This is just weird.

And all of the enemies' Pokémon are vastly skewed towards defence, to the point where about half the Pokémon in the neon colliseum are equipped with Defence, Harden, or Double Team, and most fights take about half an hour for four Pokémon if you're using rental Pokémon.

When I first met my PIE
I thought he was pretty cool
And now I think I'll die
If he's ever cruel
Whenever he smiles
He has a little blush
It'll be a while
Before I'm past this crush
He can draw like no-one's business
And he's good in bed
The world' sexiest guy, no less
Wish it could be me instead
Even miles away, he makes me high
The one I love, my lovely PIE!
