All OSes drain batteries by having your computer on silly.
This. And I keep my lappy constantly plugged in because for my uses, it's a desktop replacement. A desktop replacement that I can also take with me when needed for two or three hours.
(Constantly having it plugged in and not letting the battery go through a full cycle may explain why I've gotten this since upgrading to Snow Leopard)
But we've had this discussion about [gaming] laptops before and so I'll leave it at that.
The lesson we learn here is to just configure your computer to work for
you.
